Rock Star

In honour of the fact that I just heard the other day that the new season of Rockstar is confirmed (though they won't confirm the band they signed for it) I have a new question for you:

You are auditioning for the TV show RockStar, what band (dead or alive) are you hoping to become the lead singer for? Don't worry whether the lead singer is still with the band or not... this is just fantasy anyway. But it DOES have to be a BAND... you can't be lead singer for an individual "singer"... that means that Care can't pick Joni Mitchell or Van Morrison. (lol)

I'd honestly have to go with either the Doors or possibly Queen on this one, but I honestly don't think a woman lead singer would work for either of them... Can you hear a chick singing 'Backdoor Man' by the Doors?? or 'Fat Botomed Girls' by Queen?? Not me! (for example)

Small piece of the lyrics from the Doors song 'Back Door Man'
You men eat your dinner
Eat your pork and beans
I eat more chicken Than any man ever seen, yeah, yeah
I'm a back door man, wha
The men don't know
But the little girls understand

Maybe I just have a dirty mind... but I see that as a very sexual song... Then again I doubt I'm too far off from what I've heard and read about Jim Morrison... Most of his songs were about Sex, Drugs or Death and I don't see ANYTHING relating to Drugs or Death in those lyrics. (lol)

Now, on to Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls'.

NOTE: This is most of the lyrics that I found online but I did take out some of the repetitive parts (like the repeating chorus) of the song since this isn't being posted to sing along to... but rather to illustrate my point.

Are you gonna take me home tonight ?
Ah down beside that red firelight
Are you gonna let it all hang out ?
Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round

Hey I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew life before I left my nursery
Left alone with big fat Fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Hey big woman you made a bad boy out of me

I've been singing with my band
Across the wire across the land
I seen every blue eyed floozy on the way
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while
Take me to them dirty ladies everytime

Hey listen here
Now I got mortgages on homes
I got stiffness in ma' bones
Ain't no beauty Queens in this locality
Oh but I still get my pleasure
Still get my greatest treasure
Hey big woman you gonna make a big man out of me

Like I said, I can't see any woman singing those songs and you can't just delete them from the song lists or anything...

Back to the TV Show Rockstar... I heard that they are throwing around two band names that might be the band for the show... either Queen or Van Halen. Either would be amazing!

Question of the Day...

I was looking around for some ideas on what "questions" I can put on my blog to get my 1 or 2 readers (Mom? Care? anyone else???) to respond to... I found a good one for today.

If you could be psychic (TRULY psychic) just for a few seconds, what is the one event in the future whose outcome you would like to know now?

For my answer, I have to be totally selfish. I'd want to know the winning numbers (and date of the draw) for the next LARGE 6-49 or Super 7 Jackpot. Preferably over $20 Million prize so we would have enough, not only to take care of ourselves in luxury, but also to help out our friends and family as well.

What do you think? Tell me your answer.

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Last night we rented "The Weather Man" with Nicholas Cage. It was a pretty good movie, but it wasn't what I was expecting at all. I guess I was expecting more of a comedy but it definitely wasn't that. Every time I had seen the previews it always showed him getting hit by flying drinks, food etc... which did happen, but those few times were pretty much the only laughs in the movie. The rest of the movie was a Drama about how his life sucks even though he makes almost $300,000 a year working only a few hours a day. (poor baby *lol*)

I still enjoyed it, even though it was the exact opposite of what I was expecting. I think if I wouldn't have been in the mood for a comedy I might have enjoyed it even more.

I've been using the name Rachel a lot more lately to refer to the baby. Olivia has always been very obstinate about names. Every time I ask her "Do you like {insert name here} for a baby name?" she usually yells "NO NAMES" and runs, but I've been calling my belly "baby Rachel" lately and she's being very accepting of it, even talking to and tickling "baby Rachel". It's so cute.

Jason laughed saying that if both ultrasound technicians were wrong about the sex of the baby we could end up with a boy named Baby Rachel! *lol* I probably wouldn't use the name so much if the second technician hand't confirmed that she thought it was a girl as well. I know it's still not 100% but I'm a bit more secure in the fact that it is a girl since she confirmed it.

Jason looked at me the other day and said that he liked the name Hannah. I laughed. My aunt used to have a cat named Hannah and no matter how popular the name becomes, I always think of her cat when I hear that name.

Here's a picture of soon-to-be "Big Sister" Olivia in her Du-Du-Dora Tent. (that's what she calls Dora the Explorer) Notice the very staticky hair.

Strawberry Cake... Yum!

Well, Tomorrow is my mom's birthday. (I won't disclose her age, though it's much younger than many of you out there are probably thinking, considering she's got a 28 year old daughter.)

Anyway, we're having her and Rickey (her bf) over for supper. Nothing fancy, just Homemade Pizza. But I'm also making her birthday cake. I make a (from scratch) Strawberry cake that is just to die for!!!

So I stopped at the store and picked up some fresh strawberries on the way home from her house this morning. I've got one baggie full of frozen berries from last summer which works fine considering they need to be mashed anyway. I just make sure to drain off the excess juice that comes with thawing them. But I like to have fresh berries to decorate the cake with.

If anyone is interested, I thought I'd post the recipe here for all to enjoy:

Fresh Strawberry Cake

1/2 cup butter or margarine (softened)
1-1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp sour cream
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup mashed strawberries
1-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup icing sugar
250ml Nutri whip

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13" baking pan. (I use 2-8" round cake pans instead.)

In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and the white sugar. Add the eggs and beat for 1 min. Stir in vanilla and salt then add flour.

In a small bowl, stir together the sour cream and the baking soda till the soda is dissolved. Add small bowl to the large bowl and beat well. Stir in mashed berries.

Pour the batter into prepared pan and bake for 30 or until top springs back when lightly touched. Let cake cool then completely.

ICING: whip nutri whip per package directions until peaks form, then add icing sugar and whip another minute or so.

TIP: I also mash and use any extra strawberries I have and mix them in with the Nutriwhip Icing. It gives a MUCH stronger strawberry flavour. I only tried this the last time I made it, but I absolutely loved it!! If you decide not to do that, you can add a drop or two of red food colouring to my icing to give a pretty pink colour. I also slice fresh strawberries in 1/2,1/4 and 1/8 and decorate the cake with them, makes it look and taste delicious.

YUMMY, YUMMY, Enjoy!

(I'll try and remember to take a pic of it once I've made it and I'll post the pic here as well)

Here's the second picture... These are also the first view of my new haircut. I finally managed to get time to get it done last time we went to Fredericton. I've been wanting to for quite some time now. My hair was REALLY bad before this!! Posted by Picasa

I got Jason to take two new pictures of me the other day. These are my first "pregnant" pictures that I've got of myself. You think that I would have done this sooner than 7 months, but I guess not. lol...I even managed to give myself a virtual eyebrow waxing while removing the red eye from the picture... I really need to get that done soon. I'm looking awfully "bushy" in the original pics. Posted by Picasa

Quiet Day

Well, it's been a quiet day so far. It's just after noon and Jason is still sleeping (he worked night shift last night and didn't get home until 7am) Olivia and I have had a quiet morning, spending much of it laying on the couch cuddling together watching cartoons.

Is there any better feeling than cuddling with your young toddler!! She wasn't much of a cuddler for a long time once she became "mobile" but now that she's a little older (2 years old) she's starting to cuddle a lot more. She needs hugs all the time now and I LOVE it! I hope baby #2 is a cuddler too, because I definitely am.

I'm now 30 weeks pregnant and someitmes I think the baby is holding a freaking jazzercise class in my uterus. If I didn't know any better I'd swear there was more than one baby in there!

Jason and I are still trying hard to figure out what to name her... I wanted to go with Ava or Maia, but he doesn't like them much and he wanted Meredith, but though I like the name... it's just not right for this baby... I can't explain it. We're thinking about Rachel right now, but I'll most likely change my mind at LEAST 3 or 4 more times before the baby comes.

Only 2 more months to go!!

Others found randomly around the net and put here to use for my own nefarious purposes! Muahahahaha. (*J/K*)
